History is constantly changing as unique information is brought to light and our environment allows us to study things differently. This series attempts to serve us with the next step in conception the forces evolved in creating the first Christians.

I was very surprised to derive so great modern information presented in this series. My recent intent was to spy what Elaine Pagels [author of "The Gnostic Paul" ISBN 1563380390] looks and sounds like. I found a lot more worship.

Going beyond the institutionalized church of today we score some of the many elements that struggled to fabricate the notion we have today. I was not totally aware that the different time periods of the gospels and state was so valuable. The second revolt of the Jews also known about was not emphasized as well as in this series. The dependable clear impact of the series is that it sets a foundation for further investigation.

There are several drawbacks in the series, all to do with presentation. First it is a series of sound bites. Some nice scenery and inspirational music surrounds limited 15 second inquire of and reply interviews. The people that they interview contradict each other; this would be o.k. if they weren’t mixed up together. One person says that there was no middle class fair “Have’s and have not’s.” Then a second person comes in and says that the meeting was attended by all the middle class and not represented by the upper class or the lower class farmers. The nature of what the people are thinking at the time is subject to the interpretation of the speaker with no supporting evidence (of course this may be due to the short time on the review.)

In any event this will need repeated reviewing. Hopefully there will be an updated version with later findings.

As a student of world religions, I found this four-part series, which I originally watched on television, to be packed fleshy of vast information from a wide variety of disciplines. It traces the evolution of Christianity from its days as fair another Jewish denomination to its final demolish into an entirely fresh faith, along with the evolution of the historical Jesus (admittedly a rather obscure figure, given that apart from Josephus, he isn’t mentioned in any extrabiblical sources) into a figure of worthy greater importance (hence the title of the series) . A lot of programs about early Christianity tend to order the same archaic yarn over and over, but this series goes beyond what we already know to bear in all of the gaps. After all, a lot of times what isn’t said in the Bible is more telling than what actually is said. Biblical literalists and those who enjoy the Bible to be absolutely inerrant probably won’t be blissful with some of these current reinterpretations, but what first-rate is your faith if it can’t stand up to some challenges? One must have a glowing obsolete faith if it falls apart or feels threatened by unusual historical information, or modern-day schools of conception that don’t adhere to an absolute dim and white conception of the Bible. Isn’t it better to become stronger in your faith by constantly re-examining and scrutinising what you have in and forming your fill independent beliefs?

The series explores such topics as the journal of Perpetua, an early martyr, the Slow Sea Scrolls, the astounding books found at Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in 1945 (it’s criminal and heartbreaking how the mother of the boy who found them threw a couple of them into her kindling fire!), the differences between the four Gospels and how they each think their respective eras and locations (Brand starts out in a very Jewish vein and ends on a depressing designate, while John is very anti-Jewish and paints the Jesus movement as considerable stronger and in control at the kill), Constantine’s conversion, Masada and Shimon Bar Kochba, the destruction of the Second Temple, how Christianity developed in the various places it travelled to in the place, and Jesus’s honest social class. All in all, the history of Christianity’s first few centuries is a challenging and multi-faceted legend. It’s a guarantee that everyone can learn something modern by watching this.

my kids never heard of the Littles and the DVD gave them a lot of fun!

Before the television series there was the theatre release to the Littles that started the series off. Based on the beloved children book series about exiguous people with tails living in the walls of people’s houses. If you ever wondered how Henrey Bigg became friends with Tom and Lucy this movie explains it all. How they teamed up the effect their home from being bull dozed to the ground while Henrey parents are missing half plot across the world.

This is a typically formulaic Doris Day light comedy vehicle, but an engaging one, nonetheless. The film centers around Day, a Public Relations expert and part-time mermaid impersonator, and her error filled romance with Rod Taylor, a genius engineer with a Jetsonesque house. The two of them do well in their respective roles, and the rest of the supporting cast is generally grand as well. Dick Martin is particularly proper as Taylor’s partner, and Arthur Godfrey is big as her Dad. Paul Lynde shines as a paranoid security guard, and is rewarded with a scene in slouch (you must examine the wig to enjoy it.) The only aged link is Dom DeLuise as an inept study. DeLuise is responsible for the one star downgrade, as I feel he frequently brings down otherwise perfect scenes.

The status isn’t heavy duty, it involves an artificial gravity machine, incompetent spies, and romance, but although lightweight, it is fun, and is certainly upbeat and great for all audiences (what petite innuendo there is will flit factual past children, anyway.)

For a lighthearted, fun experience, I recommend “The Glass Bottom Boat.”

The Glass Bottom Boat is about everything that life was about in the 60’s. The Frigid War was in chubby swing, James Bond had become a household name and Doris Day was tranquil the top box office actress. With all of this, how could the film go wrong- what could they lose? Doris Day and Rod Taylor had already lost alot in their previous film Do Not Disturb which many have never even heard of unless you are an avid Doris Day fan. All believed including the man responsible for many Jerry Lewis movies, Frank Tashlin that this would be a success. With Tashlin’s talent for spoofing the times the world was in, Glass Bottom Boat was objective what the doctor ordered.

The film begins by introducing the widowed Jennifer Nelson, played by Doris Day. She works at NASA with a part-time job as a mermaid for her father’s Glass Bottom Boat service. When Jennifer gets caught up, literally, she meets Bruce Templeton, played by Rod Taylor. She is not immediately impressed, and thankful that they will never glimpse each other again, or so she thinks.

She soon finds out that she and Bruce are not only co-workers, but worse- he’s her boss! She then becomes his personal assistant who makes mysterious phone calls, which the bumbling security guard played by Paul Lynde believes to be to the see she is working for to fetch Bruce’s top secret GISMO to the Russians. This assumption soon becomes an ultimate security predicament, and everyone is out to find her.

Frank Tashlin really does a tall job with his characters. Some unforgettable highlights of the film include Dom Deluise as a Public Address Installer (who uses the job as a shroud for his genuine one) who ends up with he and Doris Day covered in banana cream cake and their legs stuck in a trash can, Paul Lynde dressed in creep to net into the women’s restroom to behold what Jennifer was up to, and finally where Edward Andrews and Dick Martin meet up unexpectedly when they were supposed to be meeting with Jennifer for a twilight rendezvoux.

This really is a film that does not secure dilapidated. It holds up with some of the other comedy films of today. The acting wasn’t Oscar-worthy, but it wasn’t intended to be. The movies from this time were intended to be fun and to catch your mind off of the serious things going on around the world. For a respectable laugh, study this film. It calm works 40 years later- it puts a smile on your face and reminds you that things can always be worse!

Wow, I can’t own how blown away I was by this. Ti Lung is enormous as the lead. He plays it straight faced all the design through, and he uses this awesome spinning blade and gets into tons of fights. It’s a wuxia, so that means that some wrong dude is trying to become the leader of the martial arts world. Ti Lung has to protect some special darts from the depraved guy, but as you can guess it isn’t going to be easy. There are 5 assassins after Ti Lung, 4 of them played by Ku Feng, Fan Mei Sheng, Lily Li and Norman Chu. There’s really no point trying to define the account. It’s honest typical wuxia stuff, except it’s a lot easier to understand than most of Chor Yuen’s other movies. Basically, all that you need to know is that Ti Lung is neat frosty in this, there are tons of grand fights, and the final fight doesn’t disappoint. The main villain is one abominable dilapidated man. It’s a short final fight, but very satisfying. The sets are even better than the normal Shaw Brothers standards, and I must mention how darkly shot the film is. I only remember a couple scenes that weren’t completely sad. A incandescent movie in every procedure, a perfect 5/5.

The Image DVD has sterling portray quality. Subtitles are well written and the Chinese track sounds obliging, and there’s an English dub. Not a perfect sounding dub, but fine enough. Here are a couple of my current lines-

“Proper, I’m the 5th Swordsman, Sao Chien… Invincible, killer of many, and other things.”

“I practiced 20 years to travel the nerve center of my body, unprejudiced one toddle, so that your paralyzing blow had no finish.”

This is an wonderful film. The location is convoluted, but understandable. The position is classic worthy versus immoral, with a few set twists. This film, shot mainly on sets, has an otherworldly ‘fantasy of China’ feel to it. Ti Lung is a gifted martial artist, but also a pleasing actor. He brings a substantial authenticity to the role.

There is a slight amount of gratuitious nudity and sex, but not enough to detract from an otherwise sparkling morality play.

From a fan and student of Miyazaki-san:

“Porco Rosso” is the master’s most autobiographical work, for once he was not trying to grunt any correct or environmental lessons to children or young girls or the Japanese society, as most of his other works did—but a heartfelt fantasy projection of himself (being an independent agent neither belonging to your typical Japanese Anime Industry or the Hollywood/Disney American Culture juggernaut, as symbolized by the brash American Pilot-Fighter, Curtis) .

It’s also a celebration of his fellow frustrated romantic and idealistic adults (many tired Japanese salary men and animators) who have not completely surrendered their youthful dreams to the MAN/military industry.

Set in Post WWI Europe, where Fascism was on the rise, the Continental world it captured was a last breath of extraordinary and natural freedom before a long darkness area in…

The genius stroke here is by turning the protagonist into a PIG, a whimsical yet literal mockery on those old-fashioned/outdated all-male/brotherhood chauvinist melodramatic adventure genre it so lovingly appropriates, and a gentle dig on “mankind” in general, all in profitable and slightly surreal fun.

In this legend, Miyazaki made fun (instead of preaching to) of his society, himself and his prominent role in it.

Yet, unhurried all the cartoony surface lies the touching elegiac sadness of a lost past and a yearning hope (placed esp. on a young female) for a better future, straight from Miyazaki-san’s cynical/sentimental heart.

and unexpectedly affecting. A magical paradox of his colossal art.

“Porco Rosso” is the “Casablanca” of cartoons with a touch of Roald Dahl, and the most under-rated and overlooked of Miyazaki’s wonderful work.

I am a fanatic for the works of Miyazaki, and this is my current among his works. There is no heavy-handed message other than his despise of Fascism; there are no cute or bizarre animals other than the hero, and cute is honest not the word for him; there are adventure, derring-do, light-hearted fight scenes, strong female figures, amusing villains, romance, stout achievements, a touch of magic, and the typically fanatical Miyazaki attention to detail. This is an atypical light adventure film and is gracious for children from 9 to 99. It’s charming, fun, and simply improbable. Please, assume it.

I can only hope that Amazon will package this in a 3-pack with Nausicaa in the Valley of Wind and My Neighbor Totoro, all due (actually LONG overdue) for simultaneous release. (The official date of release is now Feb. 22, and it will be released with Nausicaa and The Cat Returns; Totoro is not currently scheduled. This is mistifying, as The Cat Returns is actually a sequel to another Ghibli [but not Miyazaki] film that has never been released in the U.S.)

Okay before you witness at this anime’s title and roll your eyes with “been there, done that” theatrics, allow me to immediately set aside your mind at ease: This is not simply an spirited version of the classic Shakespeare play. Instead what we have is a uniquely lively drama based loosely on the classic source material from anime masters, Gonzo.

Released for the first time ever on DVD, Romeo x Juliet from Funimation breaks the 24 total episodes into a pair of two-disc sets. The first of which (reviewed here) is known as The Romeo Collection and contains episodes 1-12. Packaged within an appropriately artistically decorated cardboard exterior slipcase is a pair of thin disc cases each containing a single dvd (with 6 episodes on each) .

Total runtime comes in at 290 minutes and the note wears a conservative TV PG (13+) rating, based presumably more on the grander adult oriented themes (we do all know how this anecdote will kill) than it is language, sexual scenarios, or gore.

Language options are standard sparkling sub & dub meaning the current Japanese dialog track is presented (in stereo) as well as the option of instead watching an English dub (in Dolby Surround 5.1) . Finally English subtitles are available with either vocal option.

To paraphrase the opening set-up: The yarn takes location once upon a time, in the sky continent known as Current Verona where the all-powerful ability to flit in the distant sky breathes life and prosperity upon the people. However, foolish passions will someday transcend eternity. Now let me introduce to you the tragic account of innocent pure fancy tormented by fate in the midst of chaos, Romeo and Juliet.

In the event that this doesn’t support you understand the legend better, imagine a blend of European 1600s culture with some mythological elements peppered about for greater intrigue. The main source of transportation on Current Verona happens to be winged horses and let us not forget that this continent is in fact floating high in the sky.

Just like with the play, Gonzo structured the classic Montague versus Capulet struggle as the immediate and driving force of the prose. However the indicate does catch some arresting liberties fairly early on in the manufacture of young Juliet donning a wig and veil to pose as a male superhero who delivers justice in a severely corrupted and hierarchal society.

The star-crossed lover angle between the lead characters takes shrimp time in starting but develops quite slowly; oftentimes painfully so. There is minute doubt that this prove could have succeeded as a 12 or more-standard 13-episode present but was pushed to 24 due to Japanese broadcast television specifics. As such, ask some yarn threads to fizzle out and others to swagger on needlessly.

In the spans where things are progressing smoothly, the lead characters and their motivations are quite well done (do perhaps for the few times a wig can completely baffle everyone to the fact that Juliet is a female; especially when Romeo and his winged horse encounter the “male” version) .

Visuals are definitely high budget Gonzo territory and this fact is distinct nearly immediately. The character cells have a sort of washed out appearance that adds to the feel of antiquity to the equation while the backgrounds are lavish and rich with impressive lighting effects throughout.

Sound work is solid with a dub that succeeds on some levels but fails at others. A very deliberate advance was taken early on by the stutter talents to eliminate the old-English speaking style of the novel work but then often (and out of nowhere) a character will race into a bit of cliché outmoded style of speaking only to nearly as fast recover. The Japanese audio avoids these pitfalls entirely but comes off as lackluster in some of the key vital moments. Settle your poison, as it were.

Music catch is very appropriate with nice fluctuations at the tense moments and subtle inflections when things gather fine. In all I came into the indicate with hopes of Gonzo having duplicated the distress that made Gankutsuou work compared to Alexander Dumas’ Count of Monte Cristo. Unfortunately, it appears as though the plight with Romeo x Juliet is that the source material on which it is based was simply too ambitious from the onset. In pain to do a modernized memoir of the Shakespeare play feasible, blown tender moments and miscued romantic scenarios were perhaps inevitable. Peaceful, you have to give Gonzo credit for even attempting such a feat. In the waste it comes off more as a minor derailment than a total deliver demolish. However, suburb visuals, mild music work, and deliberate pacing may acquire this one worth looking into regardless of how it compares to the source material.

A incredible and light hearted “re-write” of Romeo and Juliet; the distinguished tragedy written early in the career of playwright William Shakespeare about two young “star-cross’d lovers”.

In this modified version of the legend, the entire house of Capulet is murdered by the house of Montague while Juliet is yet a young child. Juliet, the only survivor of the house of Capulet, is raised in secret by the still-loyal followers of Capulet. On her 16th birthday, Juliet is appraised of “who” she really is – and assumes the burden of raising the standard of Capulet once again. Unfortunately, this happens after she has already met and fallen in adore with Romeo, the crown prince of the house of Montague!

Romeo, Juliet, and their appreciate, initially sweet and innocent, grow more deep outmoded, and their adore more desperate, as both Juliet and Romeo experience the rigors and challenges of life and appreciate in the streets of graceful Verona.

The animation is superior. The position is intricate. The character development of Romeo and Juliet is arresting. I highly recommend it!

‘Rio Grande’, the last of director John Ford’s ‘unofficial’ Cavalry Trilogy, has often been unfairly judged the ‘weakest’ of the three westerns. Certainly, it lacks the poetic quality of ‘She Wore a Yellow Ribbon’, or the revisionist belief of a thinly-disguised reworking of the events surrounding the death of George Armstrong Custer (’Fort Apache’), but for richness of detail, a sense of the camaraderie of cavalrymen, an ‘adult’ (in the best sense of the word) like narrative, and a symbolic ‘rejoining’ of North and South conclusion that may have you tapping your toe, ‘Rio Grande’ is hard to beat!

It is great that ‘Rio Grande’ ever got to the screen; Ford hadn’t planned to invent it, but in order to come by Republic Pictures to agree to his demands for ‘The Smooth Man’ (he wanted the film to be shot on set in Ireland, and in color), he had to agree to do a ‘quickie’ western that would turn a speedily profit for the usually cash-strapped studio. This is, perhaps, a reason why the film is held in less worship than it deserves. ‘Rio Grande’ may have not been born with high expectations, but with John Ford in the director’s chair, and John Wayne and the Ford ‘family’ in the cast and crew, the potential for something ’special’ was ALWAYS display!

A few bits of trivia to enhance your viewing pleasure: Yes, that IS Ken Curtis, singing with The Sons of the Pioneers, in the film…while uncredited, he made a great impression with Ford, and soon became a portion of his ‘family’…Ben Johnson, Harry Carey, Jr, and Claude Jarman, Jr, actually did their maintain stunts while performing the ‘Roman Style’ riding sequence (Carey said in interviews that they were all young, and didn’t deem about the pain of it; a production would lose their insurance if they ‘allowed’ three major performers to do something as hazardous, today!) …Did you know that O’Hara, playing Jarman’s ‘mother’, was barely 14 years older than her ’son’, and was only 29 at the time of the filming? …Harry Carey barely had any lines in the script; most of what you scrutinize in the film was ad-libbed!…the accepted ditty, ‘San Antoine’, sung by Jarman, Carey, Johnson, and Curtis, was, in fact, written by Mrs. Roy Rogers, herself, Dale Evans!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Rio Grande! Click Here

Whether you’re viewing ‘Rio Grande’ for the first time, or have sat through many viewings, the film has a richness and sense of nostalgia for a West that ‘may never have existed, but SHOULD have’. It would be a proud addition to any collector’s library!

This is the third of Ford’s films which focus on the U.S. Cavalry and its violent encounters with the Apache. Wayne’s role in each is quite different. He is a subordinate officer in Fort Apache, a commanding officer about to retire in She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, and again a commanding officer in this film but estranged from his wife Kathleen (Maureen O’Hara), and son Jeff (Claude Jarman, Jr.) among the men he commands. Lieutenant Kirby Yorke (Wayne) resembles Woodrow F. Call in Lonesome Dove (played by Tommy Lee Jones) who refuses to prove any favoritism or even affection whatsoever to his son. (In fact, Call denies his fatherhood.) Of course, Ford ensures that husband and wife are reunited by the ruin of the film; also, that father and son become finish after Trooper Yorke plays a key role in helping to rescue children captured by the Apache and thereby earns his commanding officer’s (and father’s) respect. A similar relationship exists in Red River except that the conflict is resolved without a brawl. Personally, I would have preferred less reliance on Irish ballads, the focus on Yorke’s marital conflicts, and what I idea as the macho element of which Ford was so fond. Nonetheless, Wayne’s performance is outstanding and the sequence by which the children is rescued is brilliantly portrayed. In additional to noteworthy improved sound and image, this DVD version also offers several obliging supplementary features which include a scene-specific commentary with Maureen O’Hara, a mini-documentary “Along the Rio Grande with Maureen O’Hara,” and “The Making of Rio Grande” hosted by Leonard Maltin.

This DVD gives a huge overview of the Pacific War starting in August 1942 with the Allied invasion of Guadalcanal all the procedure through to the dropping of the Atomic Bomb and Japan’s surrender in 1945. Only the first half actually covers Guadalcanal. As such, the title is quite misleading. With respect to the Guadalcanal fraction, distinguished of the “footage” is actually taken from the documentary “With the Marines at Tarawa” and is clearly not Guadalcanal. The maps are very general in nature and cramped mention is made of the 6 sea battles surrounding Guadalcanal. (The DVD erroneously claims that there were 4 sea battles.) While the USMC did most of the fighting on Guadalcanal, the US Army also had a valuable presence and almost no mention whatsoever is given. If you are looking for a more comprehensive DVD about Guadalcanal, I recommend “Guadalcanal: Island of Death”.

As usual Battlefield has done a big job covering Gaudalcanal. For some reason, videos covering Gaudalanal are had to fetch so this one is appreciated. Big brush coverage is given to the whole war in the Pacific but detailed coverage is given to Gaudalcanal. I am looking forward to buying many more DVDs of theBattlefield series.

Carried over from the previous edition is the audio commentary by Cher, director Norman Jewison and screenwriter John Patrick Shanley. Both Jewison and Shanley talk about their fascination with death while Cher talks about the importance of costume and how it helps her procure into character. This is a solid commentary with bright observations and fine anecdotes from everyone.

“Moonstruck: At the Heart of an Italian Family” takes us through the genesis of the film mixing interviews done at the time of filming (Cage and Cher) and unusual ones (Aiello and Dukakis) . There is mountainous, behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage as Jewison and Shanley win us through the film telling several keen anecdotes.

“Pastas to Pastries: The Art of Pretty Italian Food” is a tour of some of the best restaurants in Slight Italy, in particular on Mulberry Street. You have six different places to settle from and their chefs note how to invent a few choice foods guaranteed to form you hungry. If you care for to cook and eat than this extra is for you.

Finally there is the “Music of Moonstruck” that examines the role that music plays in the movie. The first screening went badly because the music was all sinful.

A colossal flick. Five stars is not enough. Cher & Cage are awesome together. Gardenia & Dukakis (as Cher’s parents) are almost as shimmering. The backdrops of Manhattan and Brooklyn explore terrific. Some colossal & memorable scenes… 1. Cher meeting Cage for the first time in the bakery basement, 2. Cage expressing his appreciate for her the morning after, 3. Dukakis & Mahoney having dinner together & walking home, 4. Cher & Cage, (and her father and his “date”) at the opera, and 5. The family sitting around the kitchen table when husband to-be Aiello shows up. Six Oscar nominations – and three awards. Cher & Dukakis were very deserving and this was easily the best screenplay of the year. How director Norman Jewison didn’t procure the Oscar is beyond me. I ran out and bought the delux ‘06 edition the week it was released. Diminutive characterize upgrade – the widescreen is definitely better than the bulky frame, but there’s no impprovement on the sound… dare I say it’s worse. The music and most of the dialogue sounds like it is standard stereo (perhaps even mono at some points) … but the accurate kicker is the background music is so loud at times you can’t hear the character talking. Mountainous movie, but I feel it deserved better treament on the re-release.

If you’re going to manufacture a film which largely consists of a man driving his Range Rover along dusty Iranian roads, soliciting various men for their assistance, you’d positive better effect an consuming film. For the philosophically inclined, Abbas Kiarostami has done fair that.

Though most of the film takes position on a few dirt roads over-looking Tehran, you could collected explore it as a road movie, albeit a sophisticated, intellectually spicy one.

Homayon Ershadi plays Badii, the driver of the Range Rover, as a strong yet depleted man, a man with resignation etched into his face in every frame. Mr. Badii is trying to accept someone to befriend him with his suicide. The job is simple: reach to cloak his body if he’s successful; rescue him if he is not. He’s willing to give a gargantuan amount of money for only a tiny work. Each man he picks up reacts to his offer in a different way–each of them conveys the opinion that Badii’s taking his occupy life would be harmful, but each of them gives different a reason for his inability to relieve. The only man willing to support Badii is another who once attempted suicide. Even he tries to convince him to remain, to remember the taste of cherry.

The slay of the movie has been misunderstood by some reviewers; it’s not a trick, the movie is not a sham. The ending simply provides a jolting coda, reminding us that no matter how barren life may seem, there is a reality uncolored by emotion and mental disease, and in that reality there are others leading contented lives.

Not only has Kiarostami given us food for notion, he reveals gritty, dusty Tehran to be a city of haunting golden beauty. Another filmaker would have taken us to Eden to present his point, but Kiarostami shows us there is beauty wherever you are, even in a land seemingly drained of color and steeped in binding tradition.

Khayyám was a few centuries before Nietzsche and Sartre in his questioning and denial of religion and god. It should also be no surprise that he was the contemporary of Khawrazmi, the Persian mathematician who has given the world the understanding of zero, or NOTHING.

The abstraction of nothingness as dust is prevalent in Khayyám’s work. So it is in this presentation. The alienation of novel man from nature too ties Kiarostami and Khayyám in an inverse manner, where Khayam saw all nature as nothing, except for the short flash of life, Kiarostami presents nature as a flash in a lifetime, of course along a long and winding road, where a single taste of cherries is equivalent to taking in the whole universe and attaining the freedom to evaluate life on YOUR bear terms. If you decide to forgo cherries and mulberries to spare the ones you wish to live better, it is proper shimmering of life.

The “naturalist” who tries to convince our hero, who is as bitter as any “Omar”, that the taste of cherries is sufficient to give meaning to everything and compose up for all angst, survives by stuffing birds. Are these not the same 900 year former birds who in Khayyám’s poetry ask the seek information from of being and nothingness from atop ruins of bygone kings?

There is not enough room here to procure into the cinematography and camera work in this movie. Obviously Kiarostami has watched a lot of Kurosawa too. None the less,

the final scene of the movie is simply beyond expectation. In the age of frosty “media”, the expend of hand held video makes reality into a chronicle, no matter how elating or how painful it might have been, it cools it to a memoir to be reviewed. Kiarostami uses this procedure to review a whole life before it is extinguished.

There must be an equivalent to “reviewing one’s life” in Khayyám’s work which I have not discovered, at least not succinctly yet. Kiarostami may know it but doesn’t, or can’t impart us. But, so it was Khayyám’s scrape.
